I’ve really been into experimenting with green smoothies lately, it’s a great way to get a healthy dose of calcium, Iron and a healthy dose of veggie power!
These recipes below are ones that I made myself (though I am sure other people have similar ones) and they are suited to my tastes, you can use really any juice that you want, you only use a little depending on how watery you want it. I like to use orange because it takes away from some of the bitterness of the kale. If you need to sweeten it, just add a banana or even lowfat vanilla yogurt,agave or a bit of raw honey. Never table sugar!
(Or the I Ate a bunch of garbage this weekend and now I feel like crap, smoothie.)
This will help rid your system of toxins and alkalizes your system.
1/2 cucumber unpeeled
1 Rib of Celery
1 Bunch of Kale (any kind will do, I grow dinosaur Kale)
1 good handful of parsley
4 mint leaves
4 spearmint leaves
1/2 cup of Orange Juice ( 1 Cup if you like it less thick)
Pulverize it to an oblivion in the blender. And drink asap.
This one tends to be very earthy tasting ( smells like fresh cut grass) and not real sweet,
if you need to sweeten it add a banana 🙂
Mean Green Power Machine
1/2 cucumber skin on
Small bunch of Kale
1 apple skin on ( any kind really)
1 stalk of celery
2 tablespoons of almond butter
1 cup of water
Mix it all up in the blender and drink as soon as possible for optimum benefits, this one is designer to be more of a meal replacement, you can also add protein powder if you need an extra boost.
I drink at the very least two a week.
Try it and see how much better you feel!!
