Looking for a new spin on french toast? Try this tasty recipe, based on Tara Stiles Vegan Maple French Toast.
I used her recipe as a base and then tweaked it to my liking.
Healthier French Toast
1 cup almond milk (or whatever milk you drink)
1 table spoon peanut or almond butter
1 teaspoon coco powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
your favorite sliced bread ( I like to use Challah or Whole grain Artisan bread) Slice it thick.
Earth Balance/Butter or PAM
Put the banana peanut butter, milk, cinnamon and cocoa powder in a bowl and smash it all us until its nice and smooth.
Add Vanilla, and mix well.
Dip bread in mixture, then plop into a well oiled pan, I say this because it has a tendency to stick to the pan, but if the pan is hot and well greased it will form a crispy crust.
When done, throw onto a plate with a little butter and powdered sugar, and BAM you got a tasty breakfast! You don’t even need syrup, it’s that good on it’s own 🙂
